The nature of Mediocrity

"Miss Target, do you know the hallmark of the second-rater? It's the resentment of another man's achievement. Those touchy mediocrities who sit trembling lest someone's work prove greater than their own."

Good quote. I've encountered lots of "second-raters" out there.

I didn't know you were an Ayn Rand fan...

Well, I did not say I was a fan now did I? Just quoted her. :-)

She is a very good writer and I love Atlas Shrugged. I will abstain at this time of expressing any thoughts on her philosophies.

I would have to say that Atlas Shrugged is probably the best work of fiction I've ever read. I can't wait for the movie to come out.

I like a good portion of her philosophy, though I'm sure you all ready know that.

I like a good portion of it too but there are points I differ on.

I felt it would make a great mini-series, but a movie could not do it justice unless it was 3 to 4 installments.

Is there a movie being made?

Yeah, well, its supposed to have been being made for like 4 years now, but I haven't checked on it in a while. Supposed to be a trilogy I believe. I'll check it out and get back to you.

I found that several multi-release projects were conceptulized in years past but never made it to fruition.

A single movie is in production with a tentative release date sometime this year. Angelina Jolie is cast as the main character, Dagny Taggert.

The first project was in the 1970's as a NBC mini-series. Supposedly, Ayn Rand wanted Farrah Fawcett cast as Dagny Taggert.

It would be hard to make into a movie. I think you're right, a mini series might be a better way to do it. We need to bring back the mini series anyway. We need a Roots for my generation. What better than Atlas Shrugged?

It would be perfect.
